At what age did you give your baby a cot quilt?
I know the guidelines are 12 months but did anyone use them before they reached that age & why?
y twins currently use sleeping bags, I am just curious and will not be giving them a quilt anytime soon.
My daughter is 9 months old and has just started using one.
This is purely because we are going through a really bad cold snap at the moment and she hates sleeping bags. She is also too cold with normal blankets. She is sleeping much better with it and is alot happier during the day as she has slept better.
She is at the foot of the cot still and the quilt is tucked waaay under the matress.
As long as your babies know how to uncover their faces they should be fine. You can encourrage this by teaching them to play peek a boo with their blankets. Start by putting a blanket in their hands and gently lift their arms up, then bring them down and say peek-a-boo, My daughter is now a master at playing peek-a-boo, and I have seen her many times cover her face with her quilt then take it off.
Also if you want to use a quilt make sure their room is slightly colder then usual to ensure they do not over heat.
